The goal of this book is quite simple: to compile a list of indispensable sales rules that is not only easy to read through quickly, but that also serves as a fun daily reference for anyone working in sales.
This book was inspired by many of the great books that influence and empower people. This is a simple reference guide that can—and should— be used daily.
Our goal is to be as SUCCINCT as we possibly can. You can read this book in one night and then reference it every day for the rest of your career. If you want to get the most out of this book and see results, keep it nearby at all times. Keep one in your car to reference while on the road, one at the office and one at home.
We came up with the concept of this book while leading busy lives and trying to also read great books, and it wasn’t working so well… and so the Pocket Guide For Sales Survival was born! We wanted to give you enough to prove the importance of these rules and hope that you research on your own and really dive deeper once you fall in love with certain rules.
We want this to be a resource for learning, staying sharp and we hope it induces a permanent student mentality for every reader.
AMAZON BOOK REVIEWS
“This is the kind of book that you keep around and pick up whenever you need some humor or inspiration. I’m sure it would be great for someone starting a career in sales, but it’s probably even better for those who have been in the trenches awhile- speaking for myself, I like the occasional reminder about why I do sales, why it’s fun, and which habits to stay in. To that end, this book has a staying power that many similar books don’t. I guess that’s why it’s sold out as I’m writing this review! Keep up the good work, guys!”
5.0 out of 5 stars – Great read!
– The Count
“Hands down the best sales book I’ve come across. Immediately you feel the passion both authors have for sales. Perfect format to read cover to cover or serve as a daily reference guide. A must buy for anyone looking to succeed in sales.”
5.0 out of 5 stars – Great Guide for Anyone in Sales
“Lombardi knew that those who mastered the basics win. Wooden knew it when he taught best practices for socks and shoes. Randy & Jason put the basics in a format that sales people will actually read and apply. That is the key, I know a lot of sales professionals that have books with great content on their shelves. In this format sales people actually take principle and turn it into practice. Thats why i love it and highly recommend it.”
5.0 out of 5 stars – “This is a football”
– CJ Sales
“The Pocket Guide for Sales Survival is one of the best sales books I have ever read and owned!
This is not a book that you read and throw back in the drawer to collect dust like most; it should be on your desk for daily reference. It is a simple and practical approach to becoming a complete and consistent top-level sales person.
As a sales manager this book is an invaluable reference to help with coaching and improving the performance of the people on my team on a daily basis. I can have a rep focus on one rule for a certain time-frame or point out a rule after hearing a sales call or observing a habit that could use an overhaul.
The thing I love most about this book as a sales manager is that there is literally a sales meeting on every page with information that is current, relevant, and on-point.
If you are in sales or manage a sales team you are missing the boat if you do not get your hands on The Pocket Guide for Sales Survival.”
5.0 out of 5 stars – A Must Have
– Joe Matekel
Randy and Jason have spent their lives dedicated to the craft of sales. Their passion for training, mentoring, and coaching shines brightly through this quick and easy read. More importantly, the knowledge that they share is current, real-world practical wisdom that the reader can digest and apply immediately all throughout the sales process. I recommend this book to anyone looking to enter into a sales career, or anyone currently in sales that needs more insight on the fundamentals every salesperson should have in their bag–or pocket!
5.0 out of 5 stars – The perfect pocket guide for salespeople
Don’t be fooled by the “size” of this book, it is BIG on great information. When you print out business cards for your sales force you should also put The Pocket Guide for Sales Survival in their arsenal. I needed one for me and many to give away!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars – Great things come in small packages
– Doreen Perley
I have a confession: I’m pretty sure I have not read every page of the book, yet. I can tell you that I have read most of it and some chapters I have read over 20 times. That’s because “The Pocket Guide For Sales Survival” is written for sales people! We (salespeople who are successfully selling) don’t have any friggin time! And, when we do – we want to consume something that matters in a short time frame where we can learn, laugh and be ready to apply those stories and lessons into the real world. Let me tell you, this book delivers on those demands.
This is by far the best designed book for busy sales professionals! If you don’t like it, don’t learn from it, don’t laugh out loud – you should exit the sales profession immediately. Good work Randy and Jason, looking forward to the next couple of books. Count me as a lifelong customer.
5.0 out of 5 stars – Oh another 5-star rating?? Seriously? Yes. Seriously
– James Dobbs
Selling is not for sissies. In fact, it’s not for most people. Most folks don’t have the DNA or the intestines or whatever it is that makes for success in sales. The truly great ones–as is true in every profession–work tirelessly at honing their skills every day. Jason and Randy’s little book is a great “how-to” guide for those that are serious about succeeding in sales. I keep it in the glove box of my car and read at least a page before every sales call. . . and sometimes after the call to learn how to fix what I screwed up.
4.0 out of 5 stars – Quick and practical
– Charlie P.
I’ve read a lot of sales books and I must admit that none have been as easy to reference or casually pick up as The Pocket Guide for Sales Survival. Rather than teach a specific methodology of sales, the Pocket Guide covers everything you will encounter during a career in sales that every salesperson, beginner or seasoned rep, should be aware of. Great real-life stories and anecdotes from the authors are sprinkled in between each section. I constantly go back to this guide for reminders and sound advice.
By far, my favorite sales book, both in its format and its valuable content.
5.0 out of 5 stars – Clear and concise, an effective sales guide book for the beginner or seasoned rep
A colleague of mine purchased this book for me, and it has served as a great resource in my day-to-day work with customers. I would highly recommend others get it and keep it handy for quick tips/tricks when trying to sell a product or service. It really does help.
5.0 out of 5 stars – Fantastic Resource
– M. Sawyer
This book reads like a bullet-pointed cheat sheet to success. Randy and Jason don’t overcomplicate each lesson – they get to the heart of each point and then deliver a resounding justification for it.
One of the best aspects of this book is that its easy to digest in small pieces. You don’t have to hammer through 30 pages in a row to understand a lesson. You can knock out a few great tips in 5 minutes that could change your entire approach.
This is one of the best sales guides I have ever read and would absolutely recommend it as required reading for both anyone trying to break into the sales field or a seasoned sales pro that wants to elevate their game.
5.0 out of 5 stars – A quick, essential read for any sales professional
I have the privilege of personally knowing Randy and Jason (the authors of this book). With that bias, of course I’m going to endorse their book and say great things about it. The perspective I can give to anyone considering purchasing this book, however, is I can testify that these authors are not professors that studied top sales producers and then wrote stories about their observations. Before Jason and Randy ever thought of writing this book, they proved time and time again that they were the top sales producers on any and every product and service that they sold. All stories and references in the book are first hand testimonies from two of the best sales people in the United States. I’m sure readers will encourage Randy and Jason to write several more books.
5.0 out of 5 stars – Are the authors legit?
– Jamie Hepp
I bought this book as I have had the opportunity to meet and learn from one of the authors in the past. He was key to my success then, and what I learned from him I still use today. I was so impressed with the ease to read and use the advice as well as the quality of information. In my opinion it stands way above other sales books I have purchased, in valuable tips that work and actually result in increased revenues. I found it so useful I purchased it for my sales team as a key pocket guide to success in the field.
I would recommend this book for any professional in Sales as well as anyone interested in expanding their success in the field of Sales.

5.0 out of 5 stars – Must read for a busy sales professional
– Mark Santschi
‘The Pocket Guide for Sales Survival’ is a must-read for anyone in the sales industry. The writers are experienced and knowledgeable and most importantly hilarious. This book offers tips, tricks of the trade and anecdotes which kept me turning the page. Like a good sales person, the book was concise and to the point while keeping me on the hook.
5.0 out of 5 stars – A witty, entertaining ‘Must-Read’
I am a sales professional.
I’ve read and continue to read business and sales books. I’ve read the classics, How To Win Friends & Influence People, Think & Grow Rich, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, etc. I love them all and choose to reread them every so often.
This book is different.
It is unlike the aforementioned books in its delivery of the information.
This book is just what the title implies; a guide book.
I keep this book on my desk next to my mouse; and when I have a minute between calls or paperwork I’ll flip it open to a random page and read the respective “Rule”.
Rule #59 – Hold Yourself Accountable.
In this way, I read just enough information for the message, the lesson to stay with me and make a distinct impact on my thoughts and behavior moving forward.
It also allows me to easily revisit a Rule to allow it to further sink in.
This is a book of practical mantras.
It is a book of sage wisdom from all of the best sales directors you ever had.
If you are in Sales, or an entrepreneur (you are sales!) buy it!
You will not be disappointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars – Great Sales Tool!!

5.0 out of 5 stars – A great book to help Sales beginners, as well as seasoned professionals
– Brian Humberd
What a great read !!!. As a sales manager it is wonderful to read a sales book that keeps it short and simple. This book is full of nuggets that can be easily passed on to the next generation of sale people i.e. the people who drive American business. It is now a fixture on my desk. Look forward to the next one.
5.0 out of 5 stars – Keeping it short & simple – Thank God
– Mark Kernan
It would seem that this is a sales book. It is for the most part, but is more a book about life, attitude and love. The way the book is written is pure genius. By breaking it into smaller bites, the reader can pick it up and simply read a few pages, or dive in deeper and go on an adventure. The hardest part is putting it down; “what happens next, is there another story about life and love on the following page, what if the next section has a gem about tomorrow’s sales presentation”. This is a must read by anyone who wants to sharpen their business acumen while learning about the most important things in life.
5.0 out of 5 stars – You can’t put this book down!
We are all busy and surely I’m not alone in saying that I usually find myself struggling to locate 3-5 key points in a 200+ page so-called “sales success” book. The Pocket Guide for Sales Survival is a very entertaining and easy read that is applicable to all levels of sales professionals offering 161 key points. The authors have done EXACTLY what they set out to do: “compile a list of indispensable sales rules that is not only easy to read through quickly, but that also serves as a fun daily reference for anyone working in sales.” This book has essentially given me a weekly lesson plan for my sales team which I call Wednesday Wisdom. Every Wednesday I’ll review one of the rules from this book with my team (example below) and we relate it to the office or a recent customer interaction which gives us something to consider as a group outside of the numbers and standard daily activities.
Today’s rule is most near and dear to my heart so it’s the perfect starting point:
Rule # 2: Attitude is Everything
Having a great attitude is a requirement in sales. It’s non-negotiable, and absolutely necessary.
Your attitude does not just affect the person sitting next to you, it affects relationships with your customers, your boss and your co-workers. And of course, most important of all, it affects the people you love outside of work.
You guys have amazing attitudes and I believe that is the #1 reason that I love coming to the office in the morning!
5.0 out of 5 stars – Improving sales one rule at a time
I regularly reference this book to stay sharp. It’s the first book I’ve read since How to Win Friends and Influence People that should be required reading for anyone interested in sales–every student or teacher of sales, every salesperson new or experienced, every sales manager. It’s an indispensable part of my library that I constantly revisit in my day to day job as a Sales Trainer.
5.0 out of 5 stars – One of the best sales books out there
